8.10.2005 charlie and the chocolate factory    tim burton's charlie and the choc factory showcases the dark humour present in the soul of roald dahl. brilliant brilliant brilliant. what tim burton did wrong: 1. present untold tales of wonka's life what tim burton did right: 1. dress up johnny depp as willy wonka - i couldn't recognise him from his stint as the peter pan author in finding neverland. it was a genuine pleasure to watch a theatrical genius in action. he controlled every twitch of his face tremendously well. 2. dedicate so many scenes to the golden ticket. the whole experience was so magical it managed to extract a deep breath from me everytime the crinkling of the chocolate bar wrapper occurs. 3. song and dance sessions by the oompa loompas 4. make every oompa loompa exactly identical which was totally distasteful but absolutely hilarious 5. everything else i might have missed :) (edit) oh dear. i knew i missed something. you've got to watch out for grandpa and charlie himself. he's sincerity and genuinity is exactly what we need in this superficial world of ours. watch and learn :) 22:27 / and blackened tears fell with mine // |
