7.10.2005 today i fell in // war of the worlds    this film was a waste of time. the opening and closing acts looked like something out of discovery channel while the in-betweens were tasteless hollywood cinematography. that's why it came as a surprise rottentomatoes gave it a fresh rating. (on closer inspection, they actually rated some rotten ratings as fresh instead) the conclusion was pretty terrible for a sci-fi/horror flick, claiming that man should live on earth because he was made to live on earth. and the inconsistent detail that dv recorders were functional while all other electrical appliances ceased to work. the only credit i can give mr spielberg is his ability to create panic, but i spent most of the time in the theater cursing and swearing at stupid americans spilling each others' guts instead of feeling afraid. which makes me wonder why tom cruise gave up MI:3 for this. 01:10 / and blackened tears fell with mine // |
