6.30.2005 yep. you saw right. the time is 2.44pm on a weekday and i'm home. tomorrow's the parade and staff amin was kind enough to let us off for half a day. of course, just like any other day, he could have given us the day off because we do nothing but spend the time sleeping anyway, but nooo. i'm not complaining here, mind you. i liked my life as it was. but it's all going to change. for the worse. // how to be good by nick hornby    an ideal world in my own home ... i'm not yet sure why the prospect appals me quite so much, but i do know somewhere in me that GoodNews is wrong, that a life without hatred is no life at all, that my children should be allowed to despise who they like. now, there's a right worth fighting for. this is about good vs good. i have been utterly convinced, for a moment, that saving the third world from poverty is not the way to go and that an essential balance is struck with the widening income disparity. this is how nick hornby makes you think- selfishly. because being good isn't entirely the best thing to be. when i look at my sins (and if i think they're sins, then they are sins), i can see the appeal of born-again Christianity. i suspect that it's not Christianity that is so alluring; it's the rebirth. because who wouldn't wish to start all over again? i think nick hornby has taken over tony parsons as my favourite writer. 14:44 / and blackened tears fell with mine // |
